Coming to class:
When attending class, please park in the Telfair
St. parking lot in the rear of St. John Church. At the white double doors, pick up the telephone and tell the secretary you
are here for Kindermusik. She will electronically unlock the right side door. Please make sure the door closes firmly
behind you. You may, of course, hold the door for a parent/child right behind you. These procedures insure the safety
of all. You may use the elevator or staircase on your left to access our second floor room. If the parking lot is full, please
know that it is fine to park on Greene St. in the front of the church, then come through the fountain courtyard to a door
with a telephone to ring the secretary. Pick Up and
Arrival:
It is important to arrive to class on time as each child is greeted personally at the start of each
class session. When children enter late, they miss that moment of recognition and they also have to jump into activities already
in progress. We want each child to know how special they are and to feel as comfortable as possible. We understand that arriving
late is necessary sometimes and we would rather have students late than not at all. A good habit is to arrive at least
5 minutes prior to start time to be able to get your child settled in the room and to chat with other parents. We also
have the playroom next door to meet with friends or run around for a bit before or after class. For security reasons, please
do not stay after class for more than 30 minutes and do not enter other areas of the church. (example: No one would know you
were still there, and might lock you in for the day!)

Where to Wait:
While waiting for class to begin or for
family time during your child’s class, you are welcome to use the sitting area at the elevator or the large playroom
to the left of the staircase. Please do not bring food or drink into the carpeted area.
Preparing for Class:
Whether it’s sitting on the floor, jumping around or dancing, the activities in our classes will require
loose, comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes for playing. The younger ages usually remove shoes, so in colder months,
bring non-skid socks.
What to Bring to Class:
It would be ideal to bring only your child, yourself
and any materials needed for class, but we realize little children require extra things. There are hooks available for coats,
bags and accessories in the classroom. Please discourage students from bringing toys, bottles, etc. to the circle. Before
class, please finish snacks and use the diaper changing area or the two bathrooms located in the classroom. The children learn best
if their attention is centered fully on class activities.

Who to Bring to Class:
It is ideal for our students to
attend with one caregiver or parent. Special adult guests may sit in. Family Time is meant for both parents or two caregivers
to sit with the child (ren). Students in the Young Child program attend the majority of class alone, having parents,
visitors and siblings join them during the final ten or fifteen minutes of class. Please check with your teacher if you have
questions about this.
Missed Classes:
When your teacher will be absent from class, she will
either provide a substitute from our staff or reschedule the class at another time. It is imperative to have a last minute
contact number on your registration form if a class is cancelled close to class time (usually a mobile number). When your
child must be absent from class, talk to your teacher about possible make-up times. Depending on how many classes we are teaching
of your child's level, this may or may not be possible.
Helping Your Child Learn:
The more
involved you are in your child’s Kindermusik lesson, the more involved your child will be. They will take their cue
from you. It is your enthusiasm that teaches your child at this young age. Playing the music from class at home and in the
car, imitating the activities we do in class, improvising your own activities, and trying the suggestions in your home materials
are all ways to get the most from your Kindermusik experience. Also, remember to listen to the teacher and to participate
in class activities at all times. It is so tempting to chat with other parents during class, but this will distract your child
from what the class is doing. Remember, the playroom is available next door for talking with friends before or after class.
Thank you once again for sharing your children with us. Our greatest wish is to create a loving and joyful environment
that will give your child a head start in the world of education and, hopefully, a love of music.
